Ericksonian Hypnotherapy & NLP

Follow your bliss and doors will open where there were no doors before.

- Joseph Campbell

I have over 280 hours of Ericksonian hypnosis training with Stephen Gilligan, Sidney Rosen, Bill O'Hanlon, Jane Parsons and others. I am a Certified Hypnotherapist, through IACT, and hold a Master Practitioner's certification in Neuro-Linguistic Programming from NLP University where I studied with Robert Dilts, Judith DeLozier and Suzi Smith. I have successfully assisted clients using hypnotherapy and NLP to reduce stress, anxiety, control urges to eat, smoke and drink as well as to increase motivation and self-esteem. Another area that I use hypnotherapy is past-life regressions.

What is NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) studies the structure of how humans think and experience the world. What words we speak to ourselves greatly influences what are our values, what we believe, how we communicate. NLP offers models, techniques that can quickly and effectively assist you in changing thoughts, behaviors and beliefs that limit you.

Dispelling Myths about Hypnosis and Trance

Myth 1 - Hypnotherapists have magical powers
A hypnotherapist is an ordinary person with no power over anyone. Hypnosis is a self-imposed deep meditation, with the hypnotist acting as a guide.

Myth 2 - A hypnotized person can be made to do things against their will
This is simply not true. A person in a trance state will only do what they WANT to do. Stage hypnosis is different from working with a hypnotherapist in that when a person volunteers to go on stage their unconscious mind and maybe their conscious mind as well would freely enjoy acting like a chicken, as so they might. In hypnotherapy you focus is about your well being not putting on a show.

Myth 3 - Getting stuck in hypnosis

Even if the hypnotherapist were to leave the room after you were in a trance state, your own mind would bring you safely out of the hypnotic state as hypnosis is natural and safe.

Myth 4 - To get results deep hypnosis is needed.
Any depth of hypnosis from light trance to very deep, can bring excellent results, if your intention is 100% focused on the changes you wish to achieve.

Myth 5 - When in a trance you have no control
When in hypnosis (trance state) you are awake. You have chosen to focus your attention to the place that the hypnotherapist and you have chosen. You are always in control and can bring yourself out of trance anytime you desire. Have you ever been so involved in a TV show that you do not hear someone calling you? This is being in a trance state (TV induced hypnosis). Have you ever been so focused on driving a car that time just seems to stand still as you move along the road; another example of self-induced trance.

Myth 6 - Hypnosis can cure or solve all challenges
Hypnosis is a useful, natural and safe tool that can assist you in creating the life that you desire and a general feeling of well-being but it is not a cure-all.
